Fort Richardson albums, ca. 1940-1959.

The Fort Richarson Albums consists of two albums containing 336 black-and-white photographs and postcards as well as military orders, military forms, and miscellaneous Alaskan ephemera. Photographs include images of buildings, military personnel, and military activities at Fort Richardson, Alaska; images of tourist destinations and other locations in Alaska; images of Alaska Natives, Native villages and material culture; and photographs of various Alaskan animals. Also of interest are images of Alaskan businesses including Samson's Hardware store in Fairbanks and Peters Flying Service as well as images of the Richardson Highway. Included in one of the albums are decals of the proposed route of the Alaska Highway, Rainbow Rink in Anchorage, and other decals with military and recreation related themes.
